President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful transfer of power, pledging to hand over the presidency to the winner of the 2024 general elections as determined by the Ghanaian people.
Addressing attendees at the grand durbar of the Anlo Hogbetsotso Za festival on November 2, Akufo-Addo emphasized his dedication to ensuring that the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections are conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful manner.
He expressed deep gratitude to the chiefs and people of Anlo for their support and prayers throughout his presidency and extended his appreciation to all Ghanaians for upholding peace during his term in office.
“As we know, without peace, there can be no meaningful development. The peace we are enjoying today is what we will carry through to the elections on December 7,” he said.
“I want to assure the people of Anlo, the people of the Volta region, and all Ghanaians that the forthcoming elections will be free, fair, transparent, and peaceful. And on December 7, I will hand over the baton of national leadership to whoever the people of Ghana choose to succeed me.”
