Ebi Bright, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, has taken legal action against the election results that declared Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner.
She has filed a petition at the Supreme Court, challenging the credibility of the 2024 parliamentary election outcome. Ebi Bright argues that the Electoral Commission (EC) wrongly announced Forson as the elected Member of Parliament, citing alleged irregularities that may have influenced the final results.
As part of her legal plea, she is requesting the Supreme Court to either nullify the election results or order a re-run in the constituency.
As the case moves forward, both parties are preparing to defend their positions, with court hearings expected in the coming weeks.
Ebi Bright further alleges that disruptions occurred during the collation process at the Chemu SHS centre, where she claims some NPP polling agents interfered, affecting the transparency of the final count.
She believes these actions compromised the fairness of the election and breached electoral regulations. Her petition questions the validity of Forson’s declaration as MP-elect, arguing that procedural lapses may have violated constitutional and electoral guidelines.
