Officials met to advance trade and investment ties between Kenya and Egypt.

Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, hosted Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Foreign Affairs Minister, in Nairobi on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing trade and investment ties between the two nations.

On the topic of water scarcity, Mudavadi emphasized Kenya’s commitment to supporting Africa-led, dialogue-driven approaches within the framework of the Nile Basin Initiative.

Abdelatty highlighted the need for solutions that create mutually beneficial outcomes in managing shared water resources.

The Nile Basin Initiative, which brings together 10 member countries including Kenya and Egypt, seeks to promote sustainable development through equitable management of the Nile Basin’s water resources.

Both leaders also underscored the value of boosting private-sector partnerships, diversifying trade offerings, and accelerating the formation of a Joint Business Council to drive shared economic growth.
