According to Tripadvisor’s latest Travellers’ Choice Awards, Taghazout in Morocco has been named one of the world’s most popular travel destinations for 2026.

A rising star on the global travel scene, Taghazout in Morocco has been recognised as one of the top trending destinations for 2026 by Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The awards spotlight places “already beloved by travellers and rapidly gaining popularity for 2026,” based on destinations receiving an unusually high number of outstanding reviews. Taghazout is the only African location on a list largely dominated by European and North American cities, with Madeira, Tbilisi, and Chicago leading the global rankings.
Formerly a quiet fishing village on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, Taghazout has grown into an international hub for surfing and wellness. With dependable waves, relaxed cafés, yoga retreats, and a boutique hospitality scene, the town attracts digital nomads and experience-driven travellers seeking alternatives to crowded urban centres. Its rise reflects a shift in travel preferences toward nature, authenticity, and lifestyle-focused experiences.
Morocco’s broader tourism growth also underscores Taghazout’s appeal. The country ranked 13th worldwide in the latest UN Tourism rankings, signalling North Africa’s increasing role in global travel.
From January to October 2025, Morocco welcomed 16.6 million visitors, marking a 14% increase compared with the same period in 2024.
