Tarkwa receives 30 heavy-duty equipment from E&P to support mining activities.

In a bid to enhance productivity and increase operational capacity, indigenous mining company Engineers and Planners Co. Ltd. has transported 30 semi-knockdown Caterpillar 785D Dump Truck units to its base in Tarkwa.

This shipment is part of a larger acquisition of high-capacity dump trucks, with the current batch marking the final set delivered to the site. The phased rollout of the equipment highlights a deliberate strategy to expand fleet strength and improve efficiency across mining activities.

The development reflects E&P’s ongoing commitment to upgrading its logistics and haulage systems, enabling the company to boost output and overall performance at its Tarkwa operations.

The Caterpillar 785D Dump Truck plays a vital role in large-scale surface mining, engineered to deliver high productivity and efficient material transportation. Its inclusion in the fleet is expected to enhance turnaround times and increase operational efficiency.

E&P has been investing in heavy-duty mining machinery since 2002. In 2018, the firm allocated about $650 million toward its projects in Tarkwa and the Damang Mine, with plans to inject an additional $1.2 billion into both sites.

This investment trend mirrors the consistent flow of capital into Ghana’s mining industry over the years.

The sector continues to draw both domestic and foreign investors, supported by a stable regulatory framework, abundant mineral deposits, and sustained global demand for gold and other resources.

In addition to acquiring equipment, mining companies are channeling resources into infrastructure, workforce development, and technological advancements, all of which contribute to stronger operational efficiency and resilience.

The delivery of this final batch of dump trucks not only expands E&P’s fleet but also highlights the level of investment needed to remain competitive in the modern mining industry.

As one of Ghana’s key mining hubs, Tarkwa is expected to benefit from this latest deployment, which will support increased production and drive further growth within the sector.
