On April 8, 2026, Emmanuel Macron received John Dramani Mahama at the Élysée Palace, where both leaders reinforced bilateral relations with a strong focus on healthcare innovation, infrastructure, and strategic partnership.

During the meeting, President Macron disclosed that Ghana would be the first country to benefit from France’s National Health Platform, a wide-ranging digital system aimed at advancing healthcare delivery.
The platform seeks to establish secure, patient-centered medical records, strengthen coordination among healthcare providers, and broaden access to telemedicine services.
The announcement followed earlier engagements between the two leaders at the One Health Summit in Lyon, where they exchanged ideas on improving global health systems and preparing for future health challenges.
Ghana’s selection signals growing confidence in the country’s ongoing health sector reforms and its readiness to implement advanced digital solutions.
President Mahama praised the initiative, describing it as a major boost toward enhancing healthcare accessibility and efficiency across the nation.
The digital system is expected to complement Ghana’s broader efforts to modernize its healthcare sector while improving service delivery for citizens.
Beyond health, the discussions also addressed key infrastructure priorities.
Among them was the proposed Accra–Kumasi Expressway, regarded as a crucial project for improving connectivity and driving economic growth.
Both sides emphasized the importance of partnership in executing such large-scale developments.
President Macron also highlighted the Accra Reset Initiative, an economic reform program led by President Mahama aimed at restructuring the economy and strengthening governance frameworks.
The initiative is reportedly gaining traction internationally, reflecting increased global interest in Ghana’s reform agenda.
President Mahama was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Prosper Bani, Callistus Mahama, Joyce Mogtari, and Mavis Frimpong, underscoring the significance of the visit.
While in France, President Mahama also held talks with Gérard Larcher, focusing on strengthening collaboration in counterterrorism, enhancing regional security, and expanding trade and investment ties.
