NDC Files Court Injunction to Stop EC from Printing Amenfi Central Ballots

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed an injunction to stop the Electoral Commission (EC) from moving forward with the printing of parliamentary ballot papers and the notice of poll for the Amenfi Central constituency.

This legal action comes in response to the EC’s recent disqualification of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

Cudjoe’s disqualification was based on an interlocutory injunction issued by the Sekondi High Court, which prevents the EC from recognizing her as the NDC candidate for the December 7 elections. The court order relates to an unresolved lawsuit concerning her eligibility, barring her from participating in the parliamentary race.

The NDC argues that proceeding with the printing of ballot papers before the legal matter is resolved would undermine the legal process and violate their candidate’s rights.

In their application, the NDC is asking the court to restrain the EC from printing or distributing any ballot materials for the Amenfi Central constituency until the issues surrounding Cudjoe’s disqualification are fully resolved.

This development adds further challenges to the NDC’s campaign in the constituency as the election date draws near.
