Standard Chartered Bank names Xorse Godzi as new Chief Executive Officer

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has confirmed the appointment of Xorse Godzi as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

He is scheduled to assume office on June 11, 2026.

The incoming CEO replaces Mansa Nettey, who is stepping down from the role after a distinguished tenure, leaving behind a well-established brand and a strong banking institution.

With more than two decades of experience in banking, Xorse Godzi has served in several senior positions within the Standard Chartered Group. His previous roles include Director of Global Corporates in London, United Kingdom, and Head of Commodity Traders and Agribusiness for Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Before this elevation, he was serving as Executive Director and Head of Ghana Corporates at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC. He has played a key role in strengthening client relationships, leveraging deep knowledge of the bank’s global network, and providing leadership during challenging periods. Since 2017, he has been central to managing the bank’s operations in Ghana.

Board Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC, Ebenezer Twum Asante, expressed appreciation for the outgoing CEO, commending Mansa Nettey for her outstanding leadership and over 25 years of service to the institution.

He extended well wishes to her in retirement while welcoming Xorse Godzi to his new role. According to him, Godzi brings strong industry expertise, strategic leadership, and a forward-looking approach that aligns with the bank’s long-term goals. He added that the Board is confident in his ability to drive sustainable growth and deliver value to clients, employees, shareholders, and the wider economy.

In his remarks, Xorse Godzi said he was privileged to take on the role at a significant moment as the bank marks 130 years of operations in Ghana. He described the institution as one with a strong legacy and significant growth potential, adding that he remains committed to empowering staff, enhancing client value, and positioning the bank for long-term sustainable success.
