Energy Minister meets downstream petroleum CEOs to discuss reforms and sector growth

Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has taken part in a high-level breakfast meeting organised by the National Petroleum Authority, bringing together chief executives and major stakeholders in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.

The session convened industry executives, regulators, and government representatives to deliberate on ongoing policy reforms, operational constraints, and strategies designed to strengthen the downstream petroleum value chain.

Speaking at the engagement, Mr. Jinapor praised stakeholders for their continued partnership with government and their contribution to maintaining stability and supporting growth within the sector.

He noted that the discussions demonstrated a shared determination among industry actors to build a more resilient, efficient, and future-oriented downstream petroleum industry that can better support Ghana’s wider economic development goals.

The Minister further reaffirmed government’s readiness to collaborate closely with sector players in rolling out reforms aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing sustainability, and driving long-term expansion across the petroleum value chain.

The engagement is part of a broader initiative by the National Petroleum Authority to deepen dialogue with stakeholders and reinforce cooperation within the downstream petroleum space.

Stronger coordination between public institutions and private operators, officials say, will be essential as Ghana works to improve energy security, boost regulatory effectiveness, and position the downstream petroleum sector as a more significant driver of national economic growth.
