President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has touted his administration’s achievements, claiming to have fulfilled 80% of the promises made to Ghanaians since he took office.
During his “Thank You” tour in the Western Region on Wednesday, November 6, in Takoradi, the President encouraged Ghanaians to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming elections, stating that it would allow his government’s progress to continue.
Akufo-Addo highlighted the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy as his signature accomplishment, emphasizing its transformative impact on education in Ghana. “The NPP manifestos of 2016 and 2020—80% of those promises have been fulfilled by my government,” he stated, noting the importance of education as the foundation of any nation.
He reflected on the situation before he took office, when over 100,000 children who qualified for SHS were unable to attend due to financial constraints. “For over a decade, one million young Ghanaians were unable to continue their education. We couldn’t protect the future of these young ones,” he remarked.
“That’s why I introduced the Free SHS policy, enabling the government to cover fees and give students the opportunity to attend school,” Akufo-Addo explained.
