The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that challenges with the serialization of ballot papers were identified by its team stationed at the printing house and confirmed by its Audit Department, not by any political party.
The Commission emphasized that no political party, either formally or informally, reported the serialization issues, despite their agents being present throughout the printing process. The EC stated that the decision to reprint ballot papers for the Ahafo and Volta regions was based entirely on internal reports from its team and the Audit Department.
Addressing speculation that the reprinting decision was influenced by a report from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the EC issued a statement saying:
“It is important for the public to know that the challenges with serialization were brought to the attention of the Commission by the EC Team stationed at the said Printing House and confirmed by the Audit Department of the Commission.
“No political party, whether formally or informally, notified the Commission about the challenges with serialization at the Printing House, even though their agents were present throughout the process.
“The decision to dispose of the printed ballot papers was based solely on reports from the EC Team at the said Printing House and confirmed by its Audit Department.”
The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
