The Supreme Court has announced December 18, 2024, as the date for its judgment on the constitutional challenge against the Anti-LGBTQI+ Bill filed by Richard Dela Sky.
The case, which has been under review since May 2024, has faced criticism from supporters of the bill, who accused the Chief Justice of delaying its resolution. However, the Judicial Service clarified that the delay was caused by the parties’ failure to submit the required documents to move the case forward.
Previously, the court granted the Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney General leave to file their defenses. During a hearing on Tuesday, the applicant was allowed to amend sections of his statement of case, with the court providing the defendants an opportunity to respond.
After these proceedings, the court adjourned the case, scheduling its ruling for December 18, 2024.
