POLICE INVESTIGATE CASE AT URSULA’S RESIDENCE

The Ghana Police Service has commenced an investigation into an incident in which a gang of about 15 men, allegedly invaded and vandalized the office and residence of the Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.

In a statement released on December 9, the police indicated that the Crime Scene Management team had conducted a visit to the location as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter.

“Currently, a targeted intelligence-led operation is ongoing to get the suspects arrested to face justice, and we assure the public that we will get them.

“Meanwhile. the Police leadership is in contact with her, and security at her office and residence has been beefed up to ensure her safety.”

Unidentified individuals allegedly broke into the office of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the outgoing Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency, stealing several items and causing significant damage.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1:17 PM on Monday, December 9, 2024. Among the stolen items were an undisclosed amount of cash, a branded Nissan Hardbody vehicle, a television set, a printer, two stabilizers, mobile phones, food supplies, and three brand-new motorbikes. The perpetrators also vandalized CCTV cameras, barbed wire, and the office door during the break-in.

Authorities have not confirmed whether this attack is linked to the unrest following Ghana’s 2024 general elections. Notably, in Damongo, angry youth burned the Electoral Commission office to protest delays in announcing election results.
