Customs Revenue Officer Samuel Akrofi, acting Head of the Ghana Customs Laboratory, has stated that Ghana is working towards harmonizing trade processes under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Speaking at a GPHA media forum, he highlighted Ghana’s collaboration with the West African Customs Unit to streamline trade processes and enhance intra-African trade.
Harmonization will help verify the true origin of goods, ensuring they are genuinely African-made.
AFCTA promotes quota-free and duty-free trade, with the Certificate of Origin playing a crucial role in preventing transshipped goods from entering the market.
Akrofi noted Ghana’s support for the electronic certification of this document to curb fraudulent claims and enhance trade efficiency, ultimately strengthening Africa’s economic integration.
