The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa, has been removed from his position following the violent disruption of the Council of State regional elections in Kumasi.
His removal takes immediate effect, according to sources within the Ghana Police Service.
The decision comes after chaos erupted at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, where a group of thugs stormed the venue, disrupting the electoral process. The disturbances led to heightened tensions, forcing security officers to intervene.
Law enforcement officials are currently reviewing video footage from the scene to identify and arrest the individuals involved.
While authorities have not publicly stated whether DCOP Abrokwa’s removal is directly linked to the security failures during the elections, his exit follows concerns over how law enforcement handled the situation.
