Ibrahim Mahama, Managing Director of Engineers & Planners and younger brother of President John Mahama, has donated GHS 100,000 to support victims of the recent tidal waves that have displaced 600 people in the Volta Region. His contribution forms part of broader relief efforts led by the President to provide immediate aid to affected families.
Speaking during his visit to the hardest-hit communities, President Mahama emphasized the need for urgent assistance, stating, “In the meantime, to alleviate the plight of those who have been affected, we’ve brought some items to be distributed.” The donation from Ibrahim Mahama, along with 250 bags of rice from the Minister of Roads and Transport, Governs Kwame Agbodza, comes at a crucial time as many residents struggle with food shortages and displacement.
The government has also assured victims of long-term solutions, with President Mahama prioritizing the completion of the Blekusu Phase Two Sea Defence Project. He has directed the Finance Minister to allocate funds for the project in the upcoming national budget to prevent future disasters and safeguard vulnerable coastal communities.
