A ravaging fire gutted the Korle Bu Medical School’s medical laboratory buildings on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The inferno affected the Accounts Office, Stores, Administration, and Archives of the Laboratory.
In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) noted that it received a distress call at 11:50 p.m. about the incident.
Firefighters from four stations including the Regional Headquarters Substation, Accra City, National Headquarters Substation, and Ministries Fire Station swiftly responded.
The fire was brought under control at 12:43 a.m. and fully extinguished by 4:10 a.m. No injuries were recorded.
Nearby facilities such as the Allied Sciences Building, Diabetic Centre, and Stores Annex were successfully protected from the blaze.
Although the cause of the fire is under investigation, the GNFS has commended its personnel for their dedication and effective response.
