65 Arrested in Joint Cybercrime Crackdown Operation by CSA and CID

In a significant operation, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) collaborated with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to apprehend 65 individuals suspected of involvement in various cybercrimes throughout the country.

During a recent media briefing, Mr. Devine Selase Agbeti, the Acting Director-General of the CSA, highlighted that the arrests were part of coordinated efforts aimed at securing Ghana’s digital landscape and protecting citizens from escalating threats including online fraud and cyberattacks.

A key development occurred at Dodowa Sasabi Ubuntu Estate, where law enforcement officials arrested 25 foreign nationals. The operation resulted in the seizure of 40 laptops, 30 mobile phones, and an internet router, all believed to be used in the commission of cybercrimes.

Mr. Agbeti noted that investigations are ongoing, and both legal and diplomatic processes are being initiated to prosecute those involved. He acknowledged that several Ghanaian nationals were also implicated in the operation, which took place on May 29, 2025.

“These arrests highlight the increasing prevalence of cyber threats in the nation,” Mr. Agbeti remarked, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration between cybersecurity authorities and law enforcement to effectively combat such crimes.

The CSA reaffirmed its dedication to partnering with both local and international entities to dismantle cybercriminal networks and ensure a safer digital environment for all Ghanaians.
