The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has ended its strike following a productive meeting with government representatives.
The decision was made after CLOGSAG held discussions with the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Friday, July 12, 2024.
In a statement, CLOGSAG announced that both parties showed a commitment to resolving outstanding issues related to the salary structure for civil service and local government staff.
“The Government of Ghana, represented by the Office of the Senior Presidential Adviser, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), met on July 12, 2024.
“The parties showed commitment towards resolving pertinent issues relating to the salary structure for the staff of the Civil Service and the Local Government Service.”
According to CLOGSAG, the government has assured that the finalization of the salary structure process will be completed by October 31, 2024, with implementation starting on January 1, 2025.
Based on this agreement, CLOGSAG has agreed to call off the strike with immediate effect.
