The Parliament of Ghana has announced the formation of several key committees, appointing Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, as the Chair of the Assurance Committee.
The Assurance Committee, led by Ablakwa, is responsible for ensuring that government promises and commitments to Parliament and the public are fulfilled. This committee plays a crucial role in holding the executive accountable and promoting transparency in governance.
Additionally, Parliament has established the Ethics and Standards Committee and the Ways and Means Committee, both chaired by Patricia Appiagyei, the MP for Asokwa. These committees are vital for maintaining the integrity and efficiency of parliamentary proceedings.
The Ethics Committee will oversee the conduct of Members of Parliament (MPs), ensuring they adhere to ethical standards. This committee aims to uphold the dignity and reputation of the legislative body by addressing any breaches of conduct and implementing necessary disciplinary measures.
Parliament has also formed the Economy and Development Committee and the Backbenchers Committee to further support its legislative functions.
