Police Fatally Shoot Person Near RNC Perimeter in Milwaukee

A man was shot and killed by police on Tuesday near Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, where the Republican National Convention is being held, Fox News confirmed.

The incident occurred near 13th Street and West Vliet Street, approximately two miles from the Fiserv Forum.

According to the Milwaukee Police Association, an “outside police agency” was involved in the shooting. A Columbus police source informed Fox News that five officers from the department discharged their weapons, resulting in one fatality.

A witness told Fox News that the man who was shot lived in a nearby homeless camp and was brandishing a knife when he was shot. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that an adult male was killed at the scene.

Multiple upset residents, some claiming to be friends and family of the deceased, argued with police and demanded answers about the shooting.

When residents learned that outside officers were involved, they expressed frustration and criticized the RNC for bringing out-of-town police into their community. A law enforcement source told Fox News that no officers were injured. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear. This incident coincides with Tuesday’s theme of the RNC, “Make America Safe Once Again,” and former President Donald Trump’s call to address crime in Milwaukee.
