Andreessen Horowitz (A16z), a renowned venture capital firm in the crypto sector, has hired two of the top programmers on Facebook’s digital currency project for its digital asset fund.
According to a CNBC storey from October 11, Nassim Eddequiouaq and Riyaz Faizullabhoy have left Facebook for A16z after working on the social media giant’s Novi digital wallet for two years (formerly Calibra).
Faizullabhoy will be the CTO of A16z’s crypto business, while Eddequiouaq will be the CIO. According to Faizullabhoy: “Andreessen Horowitz has shown an impressive dedication to advancing the entire crypto ecosystem over the past decade, and we jumped at the chance to join their premier team and provide technical support to their rapidly-expanding portfolio.”
Marc Andreessen, the creator of A16z, has been a member of Facebook’s board of directors since 2008, one year before the formation of Andreessen Horowitz.
According to Anthony Albanese, COO of A16z, the firm’s new personnel will have a larger “potential to impact the crypto ecosystem on a very broad scale” in their new responsibilities.
