The launch event, scheduled for March 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at the World Bank Office in Accra, signals a significant step towards equipping Africa’s youthful generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Under the banner of “Impacting Knowledge, Accelerating Sensitisation and Preparing Africa’s Youthful Generation for the AfCFTA Through Education,” this initiative aims to embed the principles and opportunities of the AfCFTA into tertiary education across the continent. The curriculum launch underscores the critical role of education in driving the success of the AfCFTA, which is poised to be the world’s largest free trade area, connecting 1.3 billion people across 55 African countries. By integrating AfCFTA-focused studies into tertiary institutions, GITFiC and the World Bank are proactively fostering a generation of African professionals who are not only aware of the intricacies of this trade agreement but are also equipped to leverage its vast potential.

The World Bank’s support for this initiative further highlights the international recognition of the AfCFTA’s transformative power and the importance of youth engagement in realizing its goals. The curriculum is expected to accelerate sensitization and build capacity among Africa’s future leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, ensuring that the continent’s youthful demographic becomes a driving force in intra-African trade and global commerce.

Located at the World Bank Office on Independence Avenue, King Hassan Rd, Plot No.3, Ridge, Accra, the launch event is anticipated to draw key stakeholders from academia, government, business, and international organizations.
