Akufo-Addo Congratulates Athletes for Showcasing Ghana’s Best at African Games

President Nana Akufo-Addo has extended his warmest congratulations to the athletes who participated in the recently concluded 13th All African Games, applauding them for representing Ghana excellently on the global stage.

In a statement shared via his social media channels on Saturday, March 23, after the tournament’s conclusion, he praised the athletes for their exceptional performances, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

“To each member of the Ghanaian team, I commend you for your unwavering dedication, perseverance, and pursuit of excellence. Your remarkable achievements have not only brought honor to our nation but have also served as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across our country. You have truly showcased the best of Ghana to the world,” the President remarked.

He underscored that their accomplishments not only brought pride to the nation but also ignited inspiration throughout the country.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude to the coaches, officials, and support staff whose contributions were instrumental in preparing and guiding the athletes throughout their journey. He acknowledged their tireless efforts, which significantly contributed to the historic success witnessed at the games.

Furthermore, the President extended appreciation to the people of Ghana for their unwavering support and confidence in the nation’s capability to host such a prestigious event. At the games’ closing ceremony, Cessouma Minata Samate, the African Union’s Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development, praised Ghana for its exceptional hosting efforts. She highlighted that Ghana’s high standards would set a benchmark for future similar tournaments.

Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif also conveyed his congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the games, with special recognition for the Ghanaian contingent. He commended their outstanding performances, which raised Ghana’s flag high on the international stage. Minister Ussif also praised the Local Organization Committee (LOC) for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the smooth organization of the tournament.

The 13th All African Games, spanning three weeks, showcased the talent and skill of athletes from across the continent, with Ghana shining as the host nation. The tournament not only provided a platform for athletes to compete at the highest level but also demonstrated Ghana’s capability to host major international sporting events.
