Akufo – Addo has reduced Ghana Armed Forces to Citizen Inspection unit-Minority MPs

Aflao, (V/R) June 29. Some Members of parliament from the Minority caucus has alleged that President Nana Akufo Addo have reduced the operational activities of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to citizens inspection unit.

Addressing the Media in Aflao in the Volta Region of Ghana,member of the Volta MPs caucus Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa   Member of Parliament for North Tongu noted that, the heavy deployment of military personnel to some border communities in the Volta and the Oti regions was unnecessary.

According to him, the personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces was held in high esteem by some global reputable agencies quoting ECOWAS, UN amongst some important world organizations adding that the commander in chief for the Ghana Armed force must thrive to maintain that status-quo.

Mr. Ablakwa further opined that, there were some international  protocols, which must be, observed and respected by all heads of states within the sub-region.

‘You do not use the military to determine who a Ghanaian or a Togolese is’ he hinted.

The North Tongu lawmaker called on all citizens from the volta region to as a matter of urgency go out in their numbers to register so they can vote massively against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December general elections.

The military cannot be used to deter any one from registering when the electoral Commission commences the compilation of the new voter register he noted.
