Ashaiman, July 20. Mr.Enerst Henry Norgbe Member of Parliament for the Ashaiman constituency has toured some communities within Ashaiman to assetain the state of some roads in the constituency

The Member of Parliament on Monday toured the communities with the media to reveal the true states of roads to the public.

Residents, commercial and private car users expressed their outmost displeasure to the deployable states of the roads and the complete neglete by authorities to get their roads fixed.

Speaking to gitficonline.com . Mr. Enerst Norgbe revealed that, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) should be blame for the poor states of roads within the various communities

According to him the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) fixed some roads in Ashaiman but unfortunately lost power in 2016 so they couldn’t complete the remaining stretch of roads.

‘We thought the NPP after winning power would continue and complete the roads we did not finish but sadly those roads have been neglected’ he stated.

The member of Parliament further explained that, he together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) went to the Road Ministry and some key government officials to facilitate the processes to get the Ashaiman roads fixed but nothing have been done yet.

He suggested government has deliberately neglected Ashaiman roads a situation he said was unacceptable.

Responding to the issues, Mr. Albert Boakyi Okyere Municipal Chief Executive Ashaiman Municipal Assembly informed that, the impression the member of Parliament was seeking to create could not be entirely true.
He said though there were some roads to be tackled the municipal Assembly have worked on some roads in 2018 quoting the access roads in Ashaiman Middle East.

Mr. Okyere further stated that, over fifty percent of poor roads within the Municipality has been awarded on construct.

‘Coastal Development Authority (CODA) would soon fix most of the roads within the Municipality the MCE’ hinted. Showing the signed contract between the government of Ghana and the Coastal Development Authority as evidence to back his claims.

The communities toured included, Ashaiman Roman Down, Newton, labanon, Ashaiman Jericho and some taxi ranks within the constituency.
