The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has made it clear that the next NDC government will actively pursue accountability for current government appointees and officials of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Echoing the commitment made by NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama during the party’s manifesto launch at the University of Education, Winneba, on Saturday, August 24, Asiedu Nketiah affirmed the NDC’s intent to investigate and prosecute all corrupt officials from the current administration.
He dismissed concerns that the NDC is a “scary alternative” to the NPP, suggesting that such claims are merely tactics by the NPP to dissuade voters from supporting John Dramani Mahama. According to Asiedu Nketiah, those raising these alarms are primarily those who fear being held accountable for their actions.
Speaking to NDC supporters in Somanya, Eastern Region, he emphasized that the NDC is only seen as a threat by those who have something to hide.
“That’s why President Mahama said in Winneba that the next NDC government will not act out of greed or exploit Ghanaians for selfish gain,” he stated. “For those who claim the alternative is scary, remind them that it’s only scary for those who have done wrong. If you’re a thief or a criminal, then yes, the alternative should be frightening. Under our government, no corrupt individual will go unpunished.”
