The Asyad Container Terminal in Duqm has been started off by the Asyad Group, the integrated global logistics group for the Sultanate of Oman. The terminal will be operated and managed by Asyad Group’s ports and terminals arm, Asyad Ports.
This latest venture by the Asyad Group is aimed at offering integrated logistics solutions and proactively and quickly responding to new trends in global trade and handling. The group is also set to promote the port and the surrounding special economic zone as a global container handling destination and a center for integrated logistics.
The new container terminal is equipped with four remotely operated 65-ton twin-lift STS cranes and twelve 50-ton RTG cranes. These cranes have a 71-meter outreach and the 18-meter back reach. In addition to this, the cranes are also equipped with smart driving systems and technologies such as optic fiber data transfer systems for remote operation.
