Beyoncé makes history at 2021 Grammy Awards

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has more Grammy Awards than any other singer in the show’s history.
Mrs. Carter won a total of four Grammys Sunday (March 14) at the 2021 awards show, racking up wins in four categories: Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best R&B Performance. Her 28 Grammys places Bey atop the award show’s record books, surpassing country artist Allison Krauss.
The record breaking feat became official once Queen Bey accepted the Best R&B Performance award for her Black is King anthem, “Black Parade.” She looked stunned when host Trevor Noah announced she had tied Krauss for the most Grammy Awards won by a female artist. And after winning her 28th Gramophone, Beyoncé smiled and humbly addressed the intimate crowd once again.
She used her acceptance speeches to inspire, show support to her hometown Houston and send love to her kids watching at home.
“As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times,” she said during her final acceptance speech of the night. “It has been such a difficult time so I wanted to uplift, encourage, and celebrate all of the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world. This is so overwhelming. I’ve been working for my whole life, since nine years old, and I can’t believe this happened. This is such a magical night. Thank you so much. I know my daughter is watching, two daughters and my son, y’all are all watching. Congratulations Blue. She won a Grammy tonight. I’m so proud of you, and I’m so honored to be your mommy, all of your mommys. Y’all are my babies. And I’m so proud of y’all. I love you so much, my rock.”
Beyoncé won her first solo Grammy Award in 2004 when Dangerously in Love won Best Contemporary R&B Album. She won two Grammys in 2001 with Destiny’s Child; “Say My Name” won Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance by a duo or group. With 28 Grammys, Bey is now tied with producer Quincy Jones for the second most awards, behind conductor Georg Solti — who has 31 Grammys.
