On Friday, the Bank of Japan announced that 43 financial institutions had qualified for loans under a new plan aimed at supporting climate-change-related activity.

The BOJ said in a statement that Japan’s three megabanks were among those who qualified for the program.

In July, the BOJ outlined the climate scheme, which will provide banks with zero-interest loans that can be rolled over until 2030 if they increase green and sustainable lending.
