Card usage in UK plummeted below pre-COVID norm, according to ONS.

Credit and debit card spending in the United Kingdom decreased last week to 97 percent of its pre-pandemic average in February 2020, according to government statistics released on Thursday.

Expenditure in the’staple’ and work-related categories fell the most sharply over the preceding week, while social spending and spending on ‘delayable’ goods like clothing and furnishings fell the most.
