USAID workers placed on leave globally as Trump moves to shut down the agency.

A State Department notice to USAID employees ‒ two-thirds of whom work overseas across 60 countries ‒ said all USAID “direct hire personnel” across the world will be placed on administrative leave effective Friday, Feb. 7 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The only exception is for designated personnel responsible for “mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs.”
