The celebrity billionaire said she thought she was “going to die” during a 2016 robbery in her Paris hotel room.
Kim Kardashian testified before a Paris court on Tuesday during the trial of a gang accused of stealing jewelry worth millions from her at gunpoint in a hotel room.
What did Kardashian say?
“I absolutely thought I was going to die,” the reality TV star and billionaire celebrity told the court on Tuesday.
“I thought about my sister, thought she would walk in and see me shot dead and have that memory in her forever.”
In recalling the robbery, which took place in 2016 when she was attending the Paris Fashion Week, Kardashian said the suspects were dressed in police uniforms and entered her hotel room in the middle of the night and demanded she hand over jewelry.
She said the suspects tied her up with duct tape and zip ties and made off with jewelry, including a $4 million engagement ring.
At one point, Kardashian said she feared she was going to be raped as the robbers threw her on the bed and grabbed her leg.
“But he ended up tying me up and closed my legs,” she said.
She added that the assailants did not hit her.
“I was grabbed, and dragged into the other room, and thrown onto the floor, but wasn’t hit,” she said.
Kardashian said the robbery “changed the way I felt safe at home” and that she now has up to six security guards.
What do we know about the suspects?
French authorities said the assailants were part of a crime ring that tracked Kardashian’s movements through her Instagram posts.
The trial has attracted huge media attention, with crowds flocking around the Paris courthouse.
The 10 suspects, who are aged between 60 and 70 years old, have been dubbed as the “grandpa gang” by the French press.
Five of the suspects face armed robbery and kidnapping charges. Others have been charged with being an accomplice. Two of the accused have admitted being at the scene, and three have pleaded not guilty.
Most of the jewels, including the $4 million engagement ring, were never found.
