Construction of Tema to Aflao highway to commence soon

Kpone ( GAR) August 18 – construction works on the 17km highway from the Tema Motorway round about to Central University is scheduled to commence before the end of the year.
Mr. Magnus Quarshie Country director of UK based Delin consults, the company responsible for the finance, Design and the construction of the road in a stake holders meeting in Kpone Barrier revealed that, all documentation have been approved for work to begin on the road.
Mr. Quarshie further stated that, the project when completed would reduce the traffic situation on that part of the country which would also boost economic activities and enhance development as well.
He added that, all affected citizens have been engaged and plans were far advanced to take care of such individuals including the affected companies.
‘The highway would be six lanes including service lanes on each side and intersections at some vantage points’ he hinted.
According to Mr. Quarshie the project would cost some $200m US dollars and expected to be completed in 36 months.
Mrs. Olivia Ahlijah, Sociologist with the Ghana High way Authority stated that the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and a Resettlement Action Plan(RAP) have been put in place to take care of any unfortunate situation due to the construction of the road.
She further warned that only those who were captured Before the 29 January 2020 deadline would be taken care of. Saying those who were developing their projects on the right of way were doing so at their own risk and called on the residents to corporate with the authorities.
Mrs. Ahlijah assured that the project when started would create some employment for the residents within the area saying the workers would be taken from the same communities.
