The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has urged global leaders in the fight against cross-border economic and financial crimes to intensify their cooperative efforts to combat this escalating global challenge.
Godfred Dame emphasized that the survival of the global community hinges on the effectiveness of collaboration among justice partners in addressing international crime.
He made these remarks while delivering the keynote address at the 41st Cambridge International Symposium on Economic Crime, held at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
“Considering the motives and methods of those who commit financial crimes, Ghana has undertaken significant institutional reforms to establish a robust legal framework aimed at tracking criminals’ assets and ensuring that offenders do not benefit from their crimes,” Dame stated.
He highlighted the Economic and Organised Crimes Office Act of 2011, which established the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) as a specialized agency to prevent and detect organized crime, as well as to facilitate the confiscation of criminal proceeds.
