Democracy Hub: Additional 19 Protesters Granted Bail

Nineteen protesters from the Democracy Hub have been granted bail by the Accra Circuit Court, each set at GHc 20,000 with two sureties. This follows an earlier decision on Monday, October 7, when 21 other protesters were granted bail by the High Court after their lawyers appealed the Circuit Court’s decision to remand them.

On Tuesday, the defense lawyers attempted to secure the release of the remaining protesters at the High Court, but faced opposition from the Attorney General’s office, leading to an adjournment until Wednesday.

Despite the delay at the High Court, the lawyers reapplied for bail at the Circuit Court, which was granted to 19 protesters presented as a single group, including Ralphael Williams. This brings the total number of protesters granted bail to 40.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings continue for an additional group of 12 protesters, with their lawyers also expected to request bail. However, bail was once again denied to Oliver Barker-Vormawor, a prominent leader of the Democracy Hub group.
