The Electoral Commission (EC) has reassured the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other key stakeholders of its dedication to producing a credible and reliable voters’ register.
This assurance came in response to a petition submitted by the NDC leadership following their ‘Enough is Enough’ protest on Tuesday, September 17. In a statement signed by Deputy Chairman of Operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, the Commission emphasized that the process of finalizing the voters’ register is still in its early stages.
The EC affirmed its awareness that “the voters’ register is the foundation of credible, fair, and transparent elections” and reiterated its commitment to delivering a robust voters’ register ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The NDC, along with its regional offices, protested against the EC, demanding a forensic audit of the voters’ register due to discrepancies they claim to have identified in the provisional register. The party has alleged that over 243,000 illegal names appear on the transferred voters list, which they insist must be investigated.

The Electoral Commission acknowledges the receipt of the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the conclusion of their demonstration on Tuesday, 17th September 2024. The Commission will review the petition and provide a response in the coming days.
We wish to assure the general public that the process of finalizing the voters’ register is still in its early stages.
The Commission recognizes that the voters’ register is the cornerstone of credible, fair, and transparent elections. We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our unwavering commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register ahead of the December 2024 elections.
