The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced plans to hold regular media briefings on Election Day, December 7, 2024, to keep the public updated on the electoral process and ensure transparency.
The briefings are scheduled at intervals throughout the day, starting at 9:00 am, followed by updates at 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, and 6:00 pm. From 9:00 pm onwards, additional sessions will be held as results are received from various regions. Each briefing will last no longer than 30 minutes.
Media personnel with accreditation cards for the National Collation Centre have been invited to attend and cover these sessions. The EC also intends to use the platform to address reports and stories from across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, December 5, Samuel Tettey, Deputy EC Chairman for Operations, emphasized the importance of verifying election-related information to prevent the spread of unverified reports. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to delivering fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections.
The EC encouraged the public to contact the Commission via its toll-free number, 0800 324 324, for clarifications during the election period.
These briefings, according to the Commission, aim to bring the electoral process closer to citizens, fostering confidence and trust in the system.
