EC Urges NDC to Present Evidence at Crucial IPAC Meeting on Voters Register

The Electoral Commission (EC) has called on all stakeholders attending Tuesday’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to bring evidence and data supporting any concerns or discrepancies regarding the Provisional Voters Register (PVR). The EC emphasized that this collaborative approach will help resolve any outstanding issues related to the voter register.

In a press release issued on Monday, September 30, the EC noted that, despite multiple requests, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has yet to provide the data supporting its demand for a forensic audit of the PVR due to alleged discrepancies. The EC expressed hope that the NDC and other stakeholders would present their data at the upcoming IPAC meeting.

The Commission reiterated that producing the Final Voters Register is an ongoing process, not a single event, and reassured the public of its commitment to working with IPAC to address any concerns.

Meanwhile, the NDC has renewed its call for live media coverage of the IPAC meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, October 1. Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of IT and Elections, stated in a Facebook post that live coverage would provide Ghanaians with real-time, transparent information about the state of the 2024 voter register, following the EC’s self-audit.

The NDC and the EC have been at odds over alleged discrepancies in the voter register, with the NDC maintaining its call for a forensic audit. Dr. Boamah reiterated that these issues remain unresolved and emphasized the need for public access to the IPAC discussions to ensure transparency.
