Ghana and Turkey boost partnership on security and migration.

Ghana’s Minister of the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, visited Ankara, Turkey, for a working trip, where he held talks with his Turkish counterpart, Mustafa Çiftçi, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

The discussions on Sunday, February 15, 2026, centred on enhancing bilateral ties and boosting collaboration in areas such as emergency response, internal security, and migration management. Both sides examined joint strategies for disaster preparedness, combating organised crime, counter-terrorism, drug trafficking, and managing irregular migration.

Minister Mubarak was joined by key officials, including the Controller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Samuel Basintale Amadu, the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Gabriel Prince Waabu, and representatives from the Ministry of the Interior and the National Disaster Management Organisation.

Authorities say the engagement is part of ongoing efforts to build strategic partnerships that strengthen security coordination and institutional capacity between Ghana and Turkey.
