Ghana Freedom Party Endorses NDC Ahead of 2024 Election

The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has declared its support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 general election.

This decision follows the disqualification of GFP’s presidential candidate, Philip Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, by the Electoral Commission (EC) on November 12 due to irregularities in his nomination forms. Kubi was selected after the sudden passing of GFP’s original candidate, Akua Donkor.

Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, December 4, Jerry Addo, Deputy General Secretary of the GFP, revealed that the party decided to back the NDC after extensive consultations with its leadership.

Addo highlighted the NDC’s progressive policies, such as plans to establish a Women’s Development Bank and eliminate academic fees for first-year tertiary students, as key reasons for the endorsement.

“The Ghana Freedom Party is supporting the candidature of H.E John Dramani Mahama on Saturday [December 7],” Addo stated. “He is the leader we believe can capture power to save Ghanaians. I want to emphasize that this decision was made independently—without any coercion or external influence.”
