Ghanas Senior Minister Hints on Decision to Reducing Covid-19 Restrictions to be taken Friday Hon. Osafo Maafo

The Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo has hinted that the government will take its final decision on whether or not to reduce the restrictions in Ghana following the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Friday, May 29, 2020.

Speaking Tuesday morning, he said there would be a meeting on Friday, after which the government will take its final decision on life after Covid-19 and the way forward.

The Senior Minister said almost all the identifiable groups who matter in this. “like the chiefs, the churches, have close discussions with us [gov’t] and a group of our [gov’t] experts continue these discussions.”

“On Friday, well put all of this together and on best advice available we will make the various decisions. Dont forget that, in New York today, they are reducing the restrictions, Germany is reducing the restrictions, France is reducing the restrictions, even in the US, they are reducing the restrictions, which means that we must find a way of restoring the economic life in one way or the other, bearing in mind the need to ensure the safety of our citizens,” Mr Osafo Maafo said.

Mr Osafo Maafo on Tuesday morning on behalf of the government received 10 pieces of ventilators from the Peewood Limited and Tema Bonded Terminal as a contribution to support the efforts in the handling and management of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in Ghana.

The ventilators which have the same specifications as those being ordered by the Ministry of Health (MoH) were handed over to the government by Mr Adu Arthur, Founder and CEO of Peewood Limited.

The donation is part of the corporate social responsibility of Peewood Limited.

The donors, Tema Bonded Terminal has provided a distribution list for the 10 ventilators.

They are: 
GPHA International Maritime Hospital, Tema – 2 Ventilators
Tema Government Hospital, Tema – 1 Ventilator
Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital – 2 Ventilators
South Suntreso Government Hospital – 1 Ventilator
Sunyani Regional Hospital – 1 Ventilator
Ho Teaching Hospital – 1 Ventilator
Oda Government Hospital – 1 Ventilator
Yilo Krobo Municipal Health Directorate – 1 Ventilator
