The launch event was attended by academia from various African universities, representatives from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ministry of Education, and other industry stakeholders.Â
Mr. Selasi Koffi Ackom, CEO of GITFIC, mentioned that the AFCFTA Curriculum is designed as a core subject for second-year students in their first semester, and it is currently being introduced to tertiary institutions across the African continent.
Its goal is to deepen understanding of AFCFTA and empower students to play active roles in the continent’s economic integration and development.
During the meeting, Prof. Bawole offered four practical suggestions for implementing the curriculum at the University of Ghana. As a result, a committee will be established to begin working immediately on the modalities for curriculum adoption and implementation. Prof. Bawole assured GITFIC of the university’s preparedness to adopt and implement the curriculum.
Mr. Ackom looked forward to the University of Ghana adopting the curriculum and helping in the continental sensitization and education of the AFCFTA.
