The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has announced the launch of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club at the University of Lome in Togo. This significant event was led by a distinguished Ghanaian delegation, headed by Professor Rosina Kyerematen, Dean of Students Affairs at the University of Ghana.
The launch was honored by notable dignitaries, including Mr. Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo, the Greater Accra Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the Chief Executive Officer of GITFiC. The special guest for the event was the 1st Vice President of the University of Lome.
The establishment of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club represents a significant step towards fostering academic discourse and intellectual exchange on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) within the academic community. This initiative aims to create a platform where students can engage in meaningful discussions, share knowledge, and gain insights from scholarly research on AfCFTA and its implications for regional integration and trade dynamics in Africa.
In her keynote address, Professor Kyerematen emphasized the club’s role in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and contributing to knowledge on regional integration. She highlighted its importance for a more equitable and interconnected Africa. Mr. Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating that the club represents a strategic platform for nurturing future leaders who will drive sustainable growth across African nations. He emphasized that by leveraging the expertise and diverse perspectives within the academic community, the realization of AfCFTA’s objectives can be collectively achieved.
