GITFiC Reschedules 9th Global Debt Initiative and AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress to November

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has announced new dates for its flagship event — the 9th edition of the Global Debt Initiative and the Inaugural AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress — following consultations with the Steering Committee and the National Technical Working Committee (NTWC). The annual gathering, which was originally set for October, will now be held from November 27 to 30, 2025, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

According to GITFiC, the adjustment aims to ensure wider stakeholder representation and participation from various member states. “This decision was made thoughtfully, considering the interests of all distinguished delegates involved to achieve the necessary impacts in alignment with our action plans,” said Selasi Koffi Ackom, Chief Executive and Chairman of the NTWC.

The updated schedule begins with the arrival of resident participants on November 26, followed by Day 1 (November 27) dedicated to the AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress, Day 2 (November 28) for the Global Debt Initiative, and Day 3 (November 29) reserved for a Tourism Day exploring the Greater Accra Region. Departure for resident participants is scheduled for November 30, 2025.

Organizers emphasized that aside from the change in dates, all other arrangements, venues, and themes remain the same. The decision reflects GITFiC’s commitment to promoting inclusive dialogue on Africa’s debt management and trade integration. The forum, now in its ninth year, continues to serve as a platform for government officials, policymakers, academia, and private sector players to deliberate on homegrown financial solutions for the continent.

The conference has, over the years, gained recognition for its thought leadership on debt restructuring, trade finance, and policy harmonization under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). With this year’s theme expected to focus on African-led economic transformation, the 2025 GITFiC promises to build on its legacy of fostering pragmatic, homegrown solutions to the continent’s fiscal challenges.
