Government of Sudan Guarantees Fuel Security Amid Public Panic

Sudan’s Energy Minister Mutasim Ibrahim announced on Tuesday that the country maintains adequate petroleum reserves to last several weeks.

He told reporters that Sudan currently has a 16-day supply of gasoline, 21 days of diesel, and 17 days of aviation fuel, with additional shipments expected soon.

Ibrahim noted, “We have secured our petroleum needs, and most of our supplies do not come from the Arabian and Persian Gulfs. In our recent shipments, there was only one tanker from Kuwait and one from Oman, while the remainder arrived via the Red Sea, Mediterranean, and Black Sea.”

Reports indicate that panic buying has occurred in Khartoum and other regions due to fears of fuel shortages.

The minister cautioned the public against hoarding, saying it could create artificial scarcity.
