Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has publicly reacted to the ongoing criminal investigation initiated against him by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), expressing deep frustration and confusion over recent developments. In an open letter dated February 26, 2025, Ofori-Atta said he was “puzzled and dismayed” by the actions of the Special Prosecutor, particularly the raid on his home and the public declaration labeling him a “fugitive from justice.”
Ofori-Atta explained that he had been out of the country on medical grounds since January 24, 2025, when the OSP invited him for an in-person meeting scheduled for February 10, 2025, in relation to four corruption and corruption-related cases.
According to the former minister, he was neither the originating nor implementing minister in any of the portfolios under investigation. “I immediately responded through my lawyers, indicating my willingness to have them provide the Special Prosecutor with any information required to aid the investigation, given that I would be out of the country for the next few months for medical reasons,” he noted.
