The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the Electoral Commission (EC) for disqualifying the People’s National Convention (PNC) presidential candidate from the 2024 election.
Mahama argued that some of the candidates allowed to contest do not compare to Bernard Mornah, whom he regards as a stronger candidate.
On September 20, the EC disqualified 11 presidential aspirants, including Bernard Mornah, for failing to meet the necessary requirements.
During a durbar in Nabullo, Sissala East, in the Upper West Region on Sunday, October 13, Mahama expressed his disagreement with the EC’s decision, suggesting that the disqualification may not have been fair or justified.
“There were thirteen people qualified to be on the ballot paper. Unfortunately, our brothers in the PNC were wrongfully disqualified. I don’t understand how the PNC was excluded from this ballot.
“The PNC is a more credible party than some of the parties I see on the ballot paper. This is the issue we have with the Electoral Commission. Sometimes, they act in a discriminatory manner.
“There are people on this ballot paper whom Bernard Mornah is more qualified to compete against. I know this may stir controversy, but it’s the truth,” Mahama stated.
