Cortana app by Microsoft has been shutdown for iOS and Android as it’s the new move of the tech giant to end its support across multiple devices.

The Cortana app is no longer supported for iOS and Android as Microsoft has removed it from Google Play Store and App store and even its Surface Headphones.

Microsoft support note indicated that “As we announced in July, we will soon be ending support for the Cortana app on Android and iOS, as Cortana continues its evolution as a productivity assistant,” adding that “As of March 31, 2021, the Cortana content you created–such as reminders and lists–will no longer function in the Cortana mobile app, but can still be accessed through Cortana in Windows.”

However, the Cortana reminders, lists, and tasks are now available in the Microsoft To-Do app.
Cortana for iOS and Android was first launched in December 2015 by Microsoft as it was originally designed to connect Windows 10 PCs and mobile phones but still failed to gain traction.

The company no longer saw Cortana as a competitor as they find difficulties in competing with other digital assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant.

Earlier this month, the envisioned future which is full of Cortana-powered fridges, toasters, and thermostats came to an end when the cortana speaker removed Microsoft digital assistant.
