The National Technical Working Committee (NTWC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that GITFiC’s Agenda 2031 becomes a transformative framework for Africa and the wider Global South. Established to spearhead the initiative, the committee is working to make the agenda practical, impactful, and successful in shaping the continent’s economic future.
Comprising senior officials from the National Development Planning Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ministry of Education, the Bank of Ghana, and the Information Services Department, the NTWC serves as the backbone of Agenda 2031’s implementation.
This week, the committee held its fourth meeting in Accra, hosting a high-level representative from the African Development Bank (AfDB). The AfDB official was dispatched from the bank’s headquarters to explore strategic partnerships around GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative and the AfCFTA Implementation Support programs. These collaborations aim to strengthen financial frameworks and trade systems across Africa.
Looking ahead, the NTWC is also driving preparations for two major events: the 9th GITFiC Conference on the Global Debt Initiative and the first-ever GITFiC-AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress. Both gatherings are scheduled for October 29 to November 1, 2025, and will serve as platforms for dialogue between policymakers, business leaders, and academia.
The committee is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC), with co-chairing duties handled by the National Development Planning Commission. As these efforts progress, stakeholders hope Agenda 2031 will set a new standard for economic integration and sustainable development across the continent.
